In his column on Obama's recent railing against tax breaks for corporate jet owners, Jonah Goldberg deplores the incoherence and general lack of merit in the president's positions.
The point isn't that there's no merit to any of Obama's positions (personally, I'm all for clearing the junk out of the tax code). The point is that at this point merit simply has nothing to do with the positions Obama takes.
I wonder if Mr. Goldberg can point to a time — any time — when merit had any bearing on the positions Obama takes. With Obama, it's always been about power. Always.
