In a Washington Post article under the headline Bush Honors Sacrifice of Guardsmen we find this: The Democratic National Committee today issued a video accusing Bush, as a "son of privilege," of leapfrogging a long waiting list to get into the Texas Air National Guard in 1968 and shirking his duty for six months in 1972 when he went to Alabama to work on a political campaign.
I'd be willing to bet release of this video was supposed the second part of a one-two punch designed to knock Bush out of the lead. It's a perfectly timed followup to the 60 Minutes crack investigative report on the incriminating Air National Guard memos. Unfortunately for Lord Kerry, 60 Minutes needs to keep a low profile for the moment. In fact, that part of the strategy had to be left out of the Washington Post article entirely.
