No, it's not a U.S. victory he's talking about, nor is it a victory for democracy in the Middle East. Kos poster, DarkSyde, is declaring a liberal victory because America is losing the war in Iraq.
Expect this, plan on it. Anyone who thinks that it's not coming, that the sinking GOP wouldn't have the nerve to try, is possibly as delusional as the 34 percent who still think George Bush is doing a heckuva job. In fact, Kevin Drum notes that at least one right-wing cheerleader with a megaphone is already laying the groundwork with a trial balloon to blame the media; a stone's throw away from going after critics of the White House's Iraq War.
There's a lot of ways someone can respond to this tactic, after they stop laughing hysterically of course, as it really is quite desperate. But voices do carry, so a response is in order. The best response for anything is usually the simplest, the most direct, the most truthful. In this case the simple truth is that The Republicans are Losing the War...
Say it slowly, say it fast. Say it many times. The Republicans are Losing the War. Yeah, it's mean, it's vicious. Americans hate losers and this will rightfully brand the Republicans as losers for a war Americans already largely oppose. (Boldface emphasis in the original.)
Well, as you can see he claims it's only the Republicans who are losing the war. By some strange logic he concludes that only Republicans lose if the war in Iraq is lost. Perhaps in the reality based minds that frequent Kos, Republicans are not Americans.
But never mind that. And never mind that we're not losing the war in Iraq and that we're not going to. What a bizarre mentality, to believe we are losing and to want to crow about it.
