Andrea Peyser is really talking about Silda Spitzer but it could just as well be Hillary Clinton. Becoming Eliot's doormat was her crime and her failing, says Andrea of Silda. For a brief moment Eliot played the part of Bill, declaring that the important work of the people must go on. The story follows such a familiar pattern, doesn't it.
"There is much more to be done and I cannot allow my private failings to disrupt the people's work."
Private?
Twice, he called spending at least $80,000 on hookers a "private" matter. He just doesn't get it. And I doubt he ever will.
It is not clear why Silda stood by him, sending her daughters a message that it's acceptable for a woman to behave like an object on which men wipe their shoes. That was her sin, her crime and her failing.
Eliot Spitzer is not just addicted. He is delusional.
If Eliot Spitzer is delusional, what does that make Hillary Clinton? She's been Bill's doormat for two decades or more. There are differences, though. Bill and Hill now claim to be each other's best love. On top of that there has always been something in it for Hillary -- the presidency. The plan has always been that she would have a presidency of her own and that's something she could never walk away from. Win or lose, she's in this thing till the bitter end. And if she loses, which looks more and more likely as days pass, what will she, and everybody else, think of lengthy her tenure as Bill's doormat?
