According Politico, the Obama camp takes first shot at Ryan.
President Barack Obama's re-election campaign unleashed its first attack on Mitt Romney's vice presidential pick Paul Ryan even before Romney finished speaking about his choice Saturday morning.
"In naming Congressman Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney has chosen a leader of the House Republicans who shares his commitment to the flawed theory that new budget-busting tax cuts for the wealthy, while placing greater burdens on the middle class and seniors, will somehow deliver a stronger economy," Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said in a statement e-mailed to reporters.
"Budget-busting tax cuts for the wealthy," it says. What budget could that be, I wonder. Our Democratically controlled congress hasn't passed a budget in three years. What does that say? The budget is supposed to be the administration's formal vision for the direction of the country. It prioritizes how and on what we spend our resources. The federal budget is supposed to be a reflection of our values. Through funding it determines what things are important enough to do.
Not only have the congressional Democrats refused to pass a budget of their own making, they've even rejected the budgets that President Obama sent to congress.
President Obama's budget suffered a second embarrassing defeat Wednesday, when senators voted 99-0 to reject it.
Coupled with the House's rejection in March, 414-0, that means Mr. Obama's budget has failed to win a single vote in support this year.
Unanimous bipartisan rejection. How about that for an assessment of Obama's vision. No budget, no vision.
How's that green energy working for you, Mr. non-ideological President?
