In Part One of a story by shipwteckedcrew we learn about Hunter Biden and his lost hand gun, and how that story may have been leaked to Politico. It's a story that would end in jail time for anybody but Hunter Biden.
Hunter Biden, a living breathing train wreck for much of his life, was in the midst of a relationship with his late brother's widow, Hallie, that began shortly after he separated from his own wife of 22 years, Kathleen. Back in October of 2018 Hallie became deeply worried about Hunter, so much so that she took it upon herself to search Hunter's pickup truck – for what, we don't actually know – where she found a .38 revolver. Hallie took the gun from Hunter's pickup and tossed it into a dumpster nearby at a Delaware supermarket. When Hallie told Hunter what she had done, he instructed her to go get the gun and bring it back, but when she went back to the dumpster the gun was gone. The police and the Secret Service were called in.
Several hours prior to Joe Biden’s first scheduled press conference today, Politico ran a story about Hunter Biden that contains within it the potential to be a seriously troubling episode for Hunter Biden and the Biden administration. But the reality of the political news cycle is such that the story will likely get lost in the coverage aftermath of the press conference and possibly fade from the public view with little follow-up or further digging. I think that is what the Biden administration is hoping for — and was planning for when they leaked this story.
Much attention to the story is focusing on the involvement of two Secret Service Agents at a time when Joe Biden was no longer under Secret Service protection. That is a curious part of the story, but I can imagine several explanations for their interest. I address that aspect in Part Two of this story. I’m more interested in the facts surrounding what Hunter Biden did.
I hope I’m wrong about my prediction that this story will fade quickly. Hunter Biden committed a felony and the evidence comes in the form of his own statements which establish his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. It’s not just any felony, it is a felony that is regularly prosecuted in every federal judicial district in this country, and in significant numbers on an annual basis — especially when Democrats are running the DOJ.
When the story originally appeared back in in October of 2020, The Blaze reported that no arrests were made and no charges were filed. No surprise there. However, shipwreckedcrew suspects the Politico story was planted to head off a potential felony scandal.
The Politico story throws in one little nugget of information that SUGGESTS to me this story may have been purposely leaked. The nugget is meant to suggest a “crime” might be involved, but then makes clear that it’s a crime that is almost never prosecuted.
POLITICO obtained copies of the Firearms Transaction Record and a receipt for the gun dated Oct. 12, 2018.
Hunter responded “no” to a question on the transaction record that asks, “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?” Five years earlier, he had been discharged from the Navy Reserve after testing positive for cocaine, and he and family members have spoken about his history of drug use.
Lying on the form is a felony, though prosecutions for it are exceedingly rare.
According to shipwreckedcrew Politico's story focused on the wrong crime. Lying on a federal form may rarely be prosecuted, the same is not true for being being an unlawful drug user in possession of a firearm.
In Part Two of the story shipwreckedcrew ponders the involvement of the Secret Service and the FBI in the case.
The curiosity is the fact that the FBI coming to the scene makes no sense at all. The FBI does not do gun crimes, and at the time they were called there was no obvious “gun crime” to investigate even if it did.
Also, the FBI’s presence is from a leak — it is unlikely that it was reflected in the State Police report, or it would have been reported that way by Politico. Someone wanted it known that the FBI was there — but did not offer a reason why.
Shipwreckedcrew has his own theory as to why the Secret Service was involved when Hunter Biden had not been under their protection since 2014,
During the eight years of the Obama Administration, the local Wilmington Secret Service would have had many occasions to work with the Delaware State Police in providing security for Joe Biden when he was VP. The individual Agents and Troopers involved would have all become quite friendly over the two full terms of the Obama Administration. The Secret Service likes to use the same state and local personnel because that requires less vetting and less briefing time — everyone has done it before and knows the routine.
More importantly, everyone connected with the Secret Service protecting Biden would have had “chapter and verse” on Hunter Biden and his problems. Hunter Biden was a security risk and would have been treated as such.
He was a drug user, his personal life was a disaster, he had professional problems and he had financial problems. Just because he was BIDEN’s son did not mean the OBAMA Administration was going to simply ignore the risk he posed for generating bad headlines. So when a State Trooper is informing his superiors that Joe Biden’s son Hunter and his sister-in-law squeeze have lost a handgun, someone in the State Police thinks “I should call Agent XYZ from Secret Service and give them a heads-up on what numb-nuts Hunter has done.” It’s likely no more sinister than that.
It sure seems the media, at the bidding of the Biden administration, are hell bent to cover for Hunter at all costs. In December, 2019 Isca Johnson of Covingtonm Tennessee pled guilty to being an unlawful drug user in possession of a firearm and was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison. I think it's safe to say that Hunter Biden will suffer no such fate.
