Rhode Island Democratic Gov. Daniel McKee narrowly won his party primary against businesswoman Helena Foulkes and will go on to seek a full term in November.
McKee won against Foulkes and three other candidates with 32.8% of the vote, according to the Associated Press. McKee ascended to the office in 2021 after then-Gov. Gina Raimondo resigned to join the Biden administration. He was previously lieutenant governor. Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea finished third.
McKee will face Ashley Kalus, who won the Republican primary with 83.7% of the vote.
